Miles has failed to open up in every relationship he’s ever been a part of. He's starved for human connection but can't seem to figure out how to participate in it. He attempts to reconnect with his ex-girlfriend, Audrey, and his estranged father, Mark (a Jesus Christ impersonating street performer), all while discovering that his belly button is growing into a dark void. After trying and failing to connect to the world around him, he submerges himself in the growing void in his belly, and finally crawls into himself.

The Prince of Suffering is about learning that in order to connect to other people, one must emotionally connect to themselves first.
